2025 Archery Whitetail Season Sept. 1 - Dec. 31

Early season is warm, buggy and can be tough; however, the potential to take a velvet buck is there. They are just beginning to shed velvet and still in buck bachelor groups holding regular travel patterns. We would recommend hunting around Sept. 15th in 2025.

As October approaches the temps are cooling and pheasant hunting means deer will be moving everywhere, in and out of different areas. It is common to have bucks show up that have never been seen. A challenge with October is the whitetails are nocturnal. Early mornings and late evenings are critical.

Late October pre-rut kicks in and so does the fun. Rubs and scrapes will have appeared out of nowhere and the bucks will be cruising for does. A must hunt date would be Oct. 31st in 2025. It just happens! Nov. 1 is a date to see big bucks on the hoof in daylight. The entire month of November, anything can and will happen, at any time of day.

November 15th is likely full-rut. Peak rut can vary but the chances are very good you will smell, hear, and see bucks on your hunt in November.

December archery hunts are tough, we won't recommend for everyone. That said, communication is key and a late season hunt can certainly be the most rewarding of all. Typically, archery hunting here is difficult after rut, SD rifle deer season, and the snow has piled up. For us, it is common for the deer to bunch up in big herds and get in the middle of very large, cut ag fields where they can see and smell anything for miles.

2025 Archery Whitetail Deer Outlook

Communication with us is key to assisting you with your hunt. We will put in the work and give you our honest opinion and analysis for deer potential in the area.

  • Dustin Garber has been humbled to hunt this land for 40 years. Dates, patterns, and trends persist but the beauty of whitetail deer hunt is anything can happen at any time.

  • Our belief is a 'trophy deer experience' is different for everyone. You can be assured we will give you honest, straightforward answers and work to meet your expectations.

  • A target buck for us is 140" to 150" We want to harvest 'Pope and Young' quality whitetail deer. There will be smaller bucks and does running our ground. We have also been blessed with harvesting much larger deer.  Nevertheless, 'Big' deer is a subjective term, but the likelihood of sticking a 'Big' whitetail is not high here. We will be honest, we have shot some dandies over the years and had our share of taxidermy bills but most bucks will be in the 140" mark.

  • We don't take hunting archery whitetails lightly. It is serious to us, the deer are sacred so safe, ethical, respectful hunters are a must.

  • We will be happy to show serious inquiries more photos and deer on the wall. Our Morton building wall is full of what you can reasonably expect to see while hunting with us. We can show you much larger bucks as well, but these typically come with a lot of time and luck!

  •  Please feel free to call and email us.

No Pressure Hunts

To be as fair and reasonable as possible, we devised a way for hunters to access our property quite reasonably and feel no pressure to throw an arrow unless the moment and deer align just right for that particular hunter.
